The Association of Bar and Lounge Establishments (TABLE) serves as the premiere U.S. trade association for establishments serving spirits, as well as venues with beverage service as the axis of their business model. TABLE supplies its members, establishment owners and vendors, with marketing tools, education on best practices and business skills, and is creating a platform for sharing information and resources within the industry. TABLE was founded to increase financial success among members, advance their business skills, and create a trusted resource where one is needed.
The Association of Bar & Lounge Establishments values the cultural importance of meeting in person to raise a glass together. The tavern has a rich and storied tradition globally as a place where everyone gathered to meet with neighbors, to share stories, and to enjoy a meal and a drink. Bar and lounge establishments break down the barriers between class, race, gender, and politics by introducing us to unexpected people and ideas. It has been an important source for inspiring new ideas throughout history. The bar industry does not just serve spirits but supports the human spirit and interaction. We assert that a cornerstone of our social fabric and values are upheld when people come together in person to connect in good spirits.

TABLE regularly expands benefits for its members. We like to let you know what is on the horizon so you can anticipate even more good things to support your business. We also appreciate member feedback. As we learn even more about the needs of members like you, it helps us focus resources in areas that will most help you succeed.
For each enrolled location, you receive TIPS On-Premise training for three employees. TABLE schedules TIPS training sessions in major metropolitan areas about every two months. Additional employees beyond the three included with membership can attend TIPS training sessions for $25. In locations where in-person training is not a reasonable driving distance, it can be converted into eTIPS online training so you still receive your benefit. Standard pricing for in-person training of three employees gives this a $150 value, with increased value when you train additional staff at half price. When your management and staff are TIPS certified, you reduce liability and may also reduce insurance costs.
Five additional management skills programs are under development.
In addition to the advice TABLE publishes for members-only about marketing, promotions, and advertising, members have the opportunity to request individualized business coaching. TABLE subsidizes the cost of this one-on-one expert analysis and coaching for members so you save 80% off the usual cost-almost $1000 savings per day lower than what you would expect to pay a business consultant.
Software tools for measuring ROI, tracking success of promotions, managing customer messaging, loyalty programs, and methods of examining your patrons purchase patterns will be available later in 2015. TABLE continues to add resources in this area when new tools are tested and prove to be beneficial for members.
Members receive 1/3 off the cost of attendance at TABLE’s educational conferences, and 1/2 off admission to the Beverage Business Expo exhibit hall. This is over a $200 value. Members receive early invitation to all association events. These may include local “chapter” parties, opportunities to visit with industry celebrities, parties for the holidays you miss, and other regional events.
Fizz Magazine has opportunities to enter menu competitions, editor’s choice awards, and new bar awards programs. These competitions are only open to members.
TABLE recently started publishing Fizz Magazine with new industry articles published weekly. Members receive notification first and have full access. Later in 2015 access to full articles will be restricted to members only, the public will only see a highlight of article content. We also email how-to articles to members-only on a regular basis. Most of these topics come from questions we receive from members like you.
Members also can obtain free subscriptions to other industry magazines of interest. These include Bar Business, Hotel F&B Executive, Cheers, Santé, and others.
You will have an annual opportunity to participate in our comprehensive bar owner survey. While top-line results are shared with the public, detailed reporting is shared only with members. Additional data available to members when published include trends reports and other industry reports that benefit your operations.
You can subscribe to new the product announcements and analysis mailing list. This members-only list not only identifies hot products, but helps you with suggestions on how to integrate them into your existing concept and what to consider before making a purchase.
A new members-only area of the web site is soon to open where we will be cataloguing and organizing the information resources you can access at any time. This will also include an area to ask-an-librarian, with answers shared with other members. As industry standards are developed these will be discussed and published in this member area. Later in 2015 you will have an opportunity to participate in committees.
TABLE is currently working on a partnership to provide legislative action support and regulatory reporting for our members. We are also working on a career center to help F&B professionals connect with employment opportunities and find tools to support career growth and training.
TABLE will be producing a video series later in 2015 that is published bi-weekly. Videos will be short, fun, and address many of the most common problems you run into in your business.

TABLE actively maintains a database of every liquor license holder in the country, although not all members have a liquor license. About two thirds of members consider themselves both food and beverage establishments. TABLE does not share membership data with the public. We know a lot about each beverage establishment whether they are currently members or not. Some of your membership benefits include industry reports which include information from the annual member survey, as well as broader industry information.
TABLE only rents its comprehensive database of every liquor license holder in the country. That data set does not include proprietary membership information. Also, such list rentals do not enable the user to copy any contact information.
Not directly. Soon, if you join one of our partner organizations first, you may be offered a trial membership with TABLE as part of their membership benefits. We are currently negotiating combined membership options with other organizations we believe will provide a valuable extension of benefits for our own members.
No. TABLE is not a charity organization. We are also not a lobbying organization. Your dues are likely considered a business expense. Contact your tax advisor for specific advice.
Your business derives the maximum benefit when all locations actively participate in the programs that come with membership and coordinate efforts. Each location faces different challenges in operations, with different guests, and different staffing. While some benefits target the company as a whole, many target specific locations. If you choose not to reveal additional locations when you enroll, you will encounter obvious limitations when you attempt to share resources with additional locations that are not enrolled.
Instructions for updating your membership profile with other locations and contacts will be included in your Membership Kit once enrollment is processed. You will be able to complete these steps online through your member portal.
No, each location would be on its own renewal calendar based on the date of enrollment.
We want you to succeed and have many tools to help you conquer issues you may have with your establishment. Individual attention is available to active members at significantly subsidized rates. Each situation is unique and we cannot guess what amount of support you may require until you engage us to analyze your business issues. Even without individual consulting, membership gives you access to many resources you can use on your own to improve your business. Many members think of TABLE like a corporate parent, delivering the kind of support you would otherwise expect from a franchisor or headquarters, someone with experience who is there to help you succeed and learn. Success depends on your active and continuous participation in resolving issues that are harming or hindering your business.
Yes, each location enrolled will receive three TIPS training vouchers to be used during the membership year.
Yes, so long as both locations are enrolled, you may add employees to your membership profile and assign the training vouchers to any among your covered membership locations.
No, we consider TIPS training a foundation for all member establishments. Only staff members you add in your membership profile can participate in TIPS training through TABLE. Training completion certificates will only be sent to your enrolled address. We don’t want you to waste training opportunities, even if it may be a repeat of training or scheduled earlier than required by law or insurance. The refreshed training can only benefit your business, plus you’ll be sure to keep current with any changes in regulations.
Training sessions are scheduled approximately every two months in most major metropolitan areas. Other in-person training sessions can be requested if there are enough participants, in any location. Additional sessions are scheduled where there is regular demand. Instructions are in your Membership Kit for using training vouchers.
If your enrolled location is outside a reasonable driving distance from one of the training centers and you do not plan to send enough employees to warrant a specially scheduled training session at a closer location, your in-person training voucher can be converted to an online TIPS training voucher.
Yes. Anyone can join public training sessions we schedule. If you join TABLE within two weeks of attending one of our training programs, your training fees will be credited towards your membership dues and be at the member training rate. For example, if you send six employees to one of TABLE’s TIPS training sessions and pay $300, and then you join TABLE a week later, using your three free TIPS training vouchers, plus your half-price additional employee training discount would give you a credit of $225 towards TABLE membership dues.
Vouchers must be used to book training sessions specifically scheduled and hosted by TABLE, not other TIPS trainers.
As long as you join TABLE before the Expo date, your previous registration fee will count towards the combined membership and registration price offered to members.
